The first thing I did when I finished reading this was jump back over here to the claims post and made sure I signed up to do Humor as soon as possible, because this rocked my socks off. Snakes and worms are confused, and the team realizes that sci-fi sometimes gets it right. Contains references to the master work of Frank Herbert, but no real knowledge of the story is vitally crucial to enjoying the Wonder Twins' delightful banter, Jack's annoyance, and Teal'c's awesomeness. For those of you who are familiar with Frank Herbert's "Dune" (book or movie, doesn't matter) especially, run, do not walk, to this story.

This missing scene from "Children of the Gods" is brilliantly original. As Dira commented, "Because, dammit, that kidnapped and murdered Air Force sergeant deserved a name." She gets a name, and a history, and a final chance to hopefully let her people know what happened all because of a feisty Abydonian woman who stands up to false gods spoke in her husband's language.

The second half of her "Menace Duology", the story stands on its own as a fabulous episode tag to Season 5's "Menace." What makes it unique is that it is told from Janet's point of view. We have the chance to see here that when the awesomeness of SG-1 breaks down, there are people to help put them back together again. Here, Janet is the great mediator-the one who wasn't involved with the group dynamic and politics of SG-1 and can be the person to whom people seek a dry shoulder when the going goes right past tough to downright miserable.

Poor Pete, especially as he also had to handle Jacob earlier. Its a great piece of fluff that you can't help but laugh at and enjoy.

I'm utterly amazed no one has recced this for humor yet, and so I present it to you now. Synecdochic's training scheme not only brings forth teamy SG-1 goodness, but the entire SGC has an opportunity to shine and take part from Hammond and Janet to lowly SFs. Her story isn't just about a single training scenario, she goes back and creates her own canon (which I've adopted as my own, it is so fabulous) to all the previous training exercises in the past and enhances all of SG-1's characterizations because of how they've participated previously.
