SG-1: Tauri Earth

This is the type of connection that makes my brain hurt!
Meet:
Walter Harriman   Walter "Radar" O'Reilly

Dude, the similarities are there!
As I sit here and think about it, both Walters are soo damn similar. If you notice:
1. The physical stature of both are similar (minus the knit cap Radar always wore)
2. Need I mention the round glasses going on there?
3. Both are vitally important to communication (SGC Walter with off-world teams and controlling the gate and Radar being basically the only means of communication to the rest of the world)
4. They are not-so-secretly in charge of their units. (Need evidence?: Watch Zero Hour-Walter is totally in charge and can read what Jack needs, just like Radar and Henry!!)
5. Heck, what about the name Walter? Maybe it spews out "secret puppetmaster of military units"? Young Walters should be preened for the important jobs?

Now, I'm certain there are other similarities!! I want to hear about them!! Otherwise I might just have to stick a Walter on ya'alls 'till I get some more!
(and I'm so going to have to edit this to make some actual sense after my brain stops hurting...)

4 Diversions have been offered! (Reply.)

::grins:: Walter has definitely been patterened after Radar, no question! I've seen a few pet theories regarding a familiar relationship - Radar as Walter's uncle, maybe. Suggestions for M*A*S*H crossovers abound.

Anyway, considering SG-1's shameless ripoffs repeated homages, does it really surprise you?

I haven't noticed any, but then again crossovers haven't always been my cup of tea--though in the end it really doesn't surprise me in the least of the repeated homages-though I'm sure especially with the changes in walter's name over the years he evolved into a radar-like persona whereas he might not have started out like that at all... but, if we see him sleeping with a teddy bear in the next movie, I think i'll scream!

totally old news :)

Far as I'm concerned, Radar as Harriman's uncle, or other older relative, is canon.

how is it that I've missed this for so long? I'll have to keep an eye out for more! I just have never put the two together before... (now ponders hawkeye-esque character charading around the SGC...)
